About Sicily
I have been exploring the roots of Sicilian music for some years now - investigating the traditional repertoire, as well as the work of singer-songwriter Rosa Balistreri.
As jazz and improvised music offer a unique ground to blend different elements together, I couldn’t resist the idea of re-imagining the sounds of the island from my perspective.
This process has resulted in the production of an EP, Terra Ca Nun Senti, which is now available on Bandcamp (both phisically and digitally), as well as on digital platforms such as YouTube, Spotify and Apple Music.

The ensemble includes artists of the likes of Fuensanta Méndez (vocals), Sam Newbould (alto), Fernando Sánchez (tenor), Federico Calcagno (clarinet), Teis Semey (guitar), Youngwoo Lee (piano) and Lluís Naval (drums). I played the double bass and did all the arrangements.
